National Trust Scrub Cutting Day

Today class 2 went on a trip to Wembury Beach to meet with some National Trust rangers and do some scrub cutting. We learnt about how it is really important because it means that fresh gause bushes will grow back so that birds have safe places to lay their eggs in the Spring. The children also had the chance to build rafts using materials found on the beach and race them on the stream. Finally the children roasted marshmallows and sugar coated apple on the fire which was built to burn the plants they had cut down.
