On Wednesday the 17th of June, our Y6s and 6s took part in a series of electric go kart races at RAF St Morgan along with 68 other engineering teams from different schools in the South West. This was the culmination of a 2 term project to build and customise their own Goblin go kart in engineering club. The children built the go kart from a kit and learnt about the mechanics of a fully functioning racing go kart. The children travelled down the night before race day with children from St Catherines and St Michaels who had also built their own go karts, and camped in teepees ready for the big day. The children competed in slalom and hot rod competitions throughout the morning and after lunch a driver was chosen for the big race – a mile and a half circuit around the airfield racing all the other go karts. Whilst our go kart didn’t win, we were delighted when St Michaels’ go kart came in a very close second. Well done to them! We hope you enjoy looking at the pictures, did anyone see us on BBC Spotlight?
