Dementia Friendly Villages Sing-a-Long

Today we welcomed in members of the local community to join in a sing-a-long of old and new songs. The children entertained the older residents of the community with some new songs they had learned, and The Villageaires (our local choir) sang two sets of songs commemorating past times. Afterwards we shared tea, squash, cakes and biscuits. This is part of the work we do as a dementia friendly school. We aim to bring the young of the school together with the more elderly members of the community to help to defuse the stigma of dementia and help the children to understand how the older members of the community have a lot to teach us, sometimes despite their difficulties.
