We held our Christmas Sing a Long on Friday the 12th of December as part of our Dementia friendly work (Dementia Parishes around the Yealm). It was really well attended and everyone had a great time singing lots of familiar traditional and more contemporary carols. The Villageaires, as usual, provided fantastic support during the singing and also entertained us with a set of Christmas songs they had prepared for the event. Cllr John Hart (Head of Devon County Council), Ian Sherriff (Advisor to the Prime Minister on dementia) and Cllr John Squire also made the time in their busy schedules to be there.
The BBC came along and filmed the event staying for the whole thing and then beyond to interview children and staff and have a cup of tea and a mince pie along with all the other attendees. This was the third sing a long of the year and we look forward to many more. Please watch the film broadcast on Spotlight at lunchtime and in the evening on Monday the 15th of and listen to the BBC Devon radio report which also went out on air. Nina Warne from St Luke’s Hospice came along to help us celebrate Festive Friday (the St Luke’s Christmas fundraising day) – and we raised over £200 to be shared equally between St Luke’s and Dementia Parishes.
